Firearms Courses

Minnesota Permit to Carry- This course will cover all necessary curriculum required by the Minnesota BCA for a carry permit. Students will be required to file appropriate paperwork through there local police or sheriff’s department.
NRA Basic Pistol- Learn the basics of responsible gun ownership in this one day course. Upon completion of the course students will receive a Basic Pistol Certification from the NRA. This course can be combined with the Minnesota Permit to Carry course. The combined course will be a full day of instruction.
Pistol-1: This course is a full day at the range. Students will be challenged and motivated to take there firearm handling and marksmanship skills to the next level.

Lesson 1 Pistol Knowledge & Safe Gun Handling. Participant will be able to:” Identify the principal parts of a pistol and types of actions, and demonstrate how they function.” Name, explain, apply, and adopt the NRA rules for safe gun handling. ” Demonstrate how to handle pistols in a safe manner.

Lesson 2 Ammunition Knowledge & Fundamentals of Pistol Shooting. Participant will be able to explain:” The different components of a pistol cartridge. ” The firing sequence of a cartridge. ” How to properly store ammunition. ” The major types of cartridge malfunctions.” The fundamentals of pistol shooting.

Lesson 3 Firing the First Shots. Participant will be able to:” Demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to shoot a pistol safely on a range.” Students will demonstrate proper loading and unloading of the firearm. Students will be comfortable handling their firearm.

Lesson 4 Two-Handed & One-Handed Standing Shooting Positions. Participant should be able to:” Demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to safely shoot a handgun from the two-handed and one-handed standing shooting positions.” Properly score a pistol target. “

Lesson 5 Draw and fire from a concealed holster and place multiple shots on target. Students should be able to: ” Draw their firearm and place two stopping rounds on target in less than 2 seconds. ” Students will be able to safely negotiate obstacles and overcome common malfunctions while keeping the target in site.

Thanks for this great post, I grew up with shotguns and since I now reside in the city, reading about them on the internet is all I can get.
